Well, took my second infusion of Remicade yesterday - to keep people reading I'll interject quasi interesting facts such as: Remicade is an antibody that is biologically part mouse! I've been craving cheese! (I actually crave any and all foods as I have been being fed by intravenous nutrition for a couple of weeks now - It's amazing what actually not be starved but starved of sensation can make you want for.)
Unfortunately, so far the encouraging effects seen after the first infusion are absent. That's, well, discouraging and brings the possibility of surgery closer to the proverbial table. Appreciations for prayers if you pray and thoughts if you think as that rather scary and confusing decision moves into the sightlines.
A few random observations: Ragtime by EL Doctorow is a great book. thanks John :)
Buying a giant frog balloon instead of 'reading material' as suggested by your mother is a wise decision. thanks rosie :)

Mary,
Wow I can't believe you've had to resort to blogging! =)
I'm so happy to be getting some updates. It's maddening knowing that one of your friends is hundreds of miles away, suffering some potentially unknown illness, laid off from her job, and there's not much more I can do than send flowers and/or an e-mail or two.
Having had horrible effects from something as common as a stomach ulcer, and knowing the hell I went through with that to try and get diagnosed was bad enough. But you darlin' are a serious trooper to have gone through what you have.
Please just know that you are in our thoughts and prayers. Yes I am one of your religious prayer offering friends and I have said quite a few for you. Which I would like to think has led your doctors to smart decisions about treatment and recovery from the colitis.
Please know that The Diez are here for you when/if you get back to Baton Rouge. A job, a place to live, entertainment, whatever you need, please know you can call on us.
I can't wait to share some Bonnaroo stories with you.
Love,
Jessica Diez
Good post.
